Independent Research Firm Case Study: Reliant Security Innovates With Open Source Software
New York, NY, February 28, 2009 - Reliant Security announced that Forrester Research has completed a case study focused on Reliant’s innovative use of Open Source Software (“OSS”) to provide its retail customers with comprehensive and cost-effective solutions for PCI-DSS Compliance. The February 2009 case study entitled “Case Study: Reliant Security Innovates With Open Source Software,” is part of Forrester’s report on mainstream adoption of OSS – “Best Practices: Improve Development Effectiveness Through Strategic Adoption Of Open Source."
The Forrester report focuses on OSS best practices incorporated into Reliant’s Redbox “PCI-in-Box” solution for Retailers. The report, written by Jeffrey Hammond of Forrester, states, “When Reliant Software developed its Managed PCI System (MPS) for Merchant Environments, it focused on cutting costs, as most retailers simply can't justify the high costs associated with commercial PCI solutions.”
Reliant Managing Partner, Mark Weiner commented, “We are honored to be recognized by Forrester’s research team as innovators in the development of solutions leveraging OSS. This provides yet another recognition point that our integrated approach to PCI compliance provides exceptional value and reliability for Retailers who must meet PCI requirements in this challenging economy.”
Hammond concludes, “The bottom line for Reliant Security’s customers is that they need a successful implementation that can successfully pass a compliance audit. At this point, multiple customers have done exactly that, and demonstrated successful PCI compliance in the process. And the icing on the cake is that achieving compliance has come at substantial costs savings. In one case, a customer saved over $1 million in deployment costs across 700 retail installations compared to the cost of deploying alternative solutions based on commercial technologies- a net project cost reduction of over 50%.
